Pergolas

Having a pergola offers several benefits. It provides a functional outdoor space for relaxation, entertaining, or dining. With its open framework, a pergola allows you to enjoy the outdoors while still providing some shade and protection from the elements. Very practical for the Manawatu weather!

Materials We Use + Our Design Process

Gatch Works pergolas are constructed using high-quality timber and we offer various roofing options to suit your needs. Choose from Clearlite, SunTuff, or Iron roofing materials to customise your pergola to your preferences.

You can choose to have your pergola built to be standalone, or attached to the house. Freestanding pergolas stand independently, offering versatility in placement within your outdoor space.

Attached pergolas, on the other hand, are seamlessly connected to an existing structure like your house, garage, or outbuildings. Acting as an extension of your indoor living space, these pergolas blur the lines between indoors and outdoors.

Our Four Step Project Framework for Ensuring Customer Satisfaction

Do I need a Building Consent?

Typically, a pergola is viewed as a structure providing sunshade, often utilizing a roof for sun protection. However, once a roof is added, it transitions from being classified as a pergola to a veranda.

Recent amendments to the Building Act have introduced exemptions for verandas and porches of up to 30 square meters on ground floors from requiring building consent.
